23 Oct 2006 - Farfield Scientific Proud to Sponsor Gordon Research Conferences
Farfield Scientific is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the upcoming Gordon Research Conference on Biointerface Science being held at Les Diablerets, Switzerland from 22nd to 27th October 2006. This follows on from Farfield’s sponsorship earlier this year of the Gordon Research Conference on Chemistry at Interfaces at Biddeford, Maine, USA.Dr Simon Carrington, Marketing Director at Farfield explains, “The Gordon Research Conferences represent probably the most prestigious forum around the world for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research across all of the scientific disciplines. Each Gordon Research Conference has a recurring thematic topic and strives to be the best annual meeting in its field. Farfield is proud to be associated with this excellent network and to be able to support student participation and social events during the Conferences”.
The Gordon Research Conference on Biointerface Science is motivated by the rationale that there is an urgent need to increase the understanding of interactions between biomolecules and surfaces, and the behaviour of complex macromolecular systems at materials interfaces, driven by the important role these interactions play in the fields of biology, biotechnology, diagnostics, and medicine. The goal of this GRC is to create a conference that will be the premier venue to discuss fundamental research that intersects biology and artificial surfaces by bringing together chemists, physicists, biologists and engineers who would otherwise not intersect on the conference circuit in a setting that promotes cross-disciplinary fertilization of new ideas.
Farfield’s AnaLight® DPI instrument range studies structural and functional aspects of the relationship between biomolecules and surfaces through real time measurements of thickness, density and mass at ultra-high resolution. Interfacial applications for AnaLight® have evolved from Farfield’s collaborations with prestigious European surface science institutes, including YKI in Stockholm and ETH in Zurich.
